Government procurement of Kharif crops in Haryana is being done smoothly at the MSP fixed by the Government of India. An amount of Rs 9,810 crore has been disbursed directly into the bank accounts of farmers for paddy and millet procurement. This includes Rs 8880 crore for paddy procurement and Rs 930 crore for millet procurement.
An official spokesperson said so far 47.44 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of paddy had arrived in various mandis. Of the total arrival, 45.76 lakh MT had been procured by the agencies on MSP. Continuous lifting of paddy from the mandis is also being ensured. At the same time, 4,42,759 MT of millet has arrived in mandis so far. Besides, 4,33,021 MT of millet has been procured on MSP, which is about 98 per cent of the total arrival.
The department has provided the facility of online gate pass so that farmers do not face any problem in selling the crop and do not have to wait to enter the mandis. The government is giving MSP of Rs 2,300 per quintal for normal paddy and Rs 2,320 per quintal for grade-A paddy. Senior officials are keeping a close watch on the procurement process.
The spokesperson said that till now the maximum purchase of 966195 MTs of paddy had been done in Kurukshetra. Beside this, 809770 MTs of paddy has been purchased in Karnal, 790245 MTs in Kaithal, 513324 MTs in Ambala, 512587 MTs in Yamunanagar, 489196 MTs in Fatehabad, 172051 MTs in Jind, 145232 MTs in Sirsa and 76889 MTs in Panchkula.
The spokesperson said 1,08,494 MTs of millet had been purchased in various mandis of Mahendragarh district. Similarly, 95,449 MTs of millet has been purchased in Rewari district, 69,175 MTs in Bhiwani, 35,946 MTs in Charkhi Dadri and 35,923 MTs in Gurugram.
